We're here to give you the freedom to live your life.
The financial system has been called the “economy's circulatory system.” The free flow of money, whether between people, businesses, systems, or nations, is critical to a functioning economy and society. However, the increasing digitization of so much of our currency presents unique security challenges that need to be addressed as hackers gain technical expertise allowing them to breach more systems.
CSO recently posed a key question about the evolution of cybersecurity in 2018: Will this year be worse than 2017? The answer is yes and no. While attacks and intrusions are likely to increase in scope and sophistication, IT leaders will respond with strengthened authentication protocols, more effective security technologies and a sense of urgency to accompany the roll-out of new government regulations.
This is good news because we should always have the freedom to do what we want, with confidence and live everyday moments without fear or worry. Whether shopping for baby clothes online, tracking workouts, gaming online with friends, or accessing Electronic Health Records, Thales is helping give you the freedom to live your life.
That is why Thales also conducts ongoing research about the extent to which various industries are using encryption as they confront cyberattacks because we believe in the importance of “freedom to” – freedom to share, freedom to explore, freedom to live and freedom to make decisions.
Based on independent research by the Ponemon Institute, the results of our 2018 Global Encryption Trends Study reflect many changes organizations are experiencing in a world marked by widespread cloud deployments, use of multiple public cloud providers and new regulations such as the EU General Data Protection Regulation. Among our findings: Data discovery is the top encryption planning and execution challenge, as expressed by 67% of respondents who participated in the report, a number 8% higher than 2017. Data gathered in the report from more than 5,000 respondents worldwide also reveals several related trends across a variety of sectors.
